The Peace Corps and Her Campus Join Forces to Let Girls Learn
BOSTON, MA (September 14th 2015) - This September, the Peace Corps is collaborating with Her Campus Media to activate their global college network in support of the Let Girls Learn initiative, a government-wide commitment to bring increased focus, resources and impact to the critical issue of girls’ education.
Through Let Girls Learn, Peace Corps volunteers work at the grassroots level to expand access to education for girls around the world. As the largest global college community for women with over 6 million monthly users and chapters on over 290 campuses, Her Campus is committed to raising money and awareness for this initiative as it fits so seamlessly into their overall mission.
"Her Campus's mission has always been to serve college women," said Her Campus Co-Founder, CEO & Editor-in-Chief Stephanie Kaplan Lewis. “This partnership gives us an incredible opportunity to leverage the community we’ve built to act as a platform and mouthpiece for the Let Girls Learn initiative, while also serving college women in an even broader sense, globally."
With the help of the Peace Corps, Her Campus chapters will be hosting fundraising events all month long ranging from bake sales, to car washes, to clothing sales with all proceeds going to the Peace Corps Let Girls Learn Fund. The smart collaboration will ensure that the Let Girls Learn message reaches thousands of college students globally.
