Her Campus Media Acquires HerUni.com

BOSTON, MA (November 18th 2013)—Her Campus Media, the parent company of HerCampus.com, the #1 online community for college women and leading college marketing firm, today announced it has completed its acquisition of HerUni Media Limited. The acquisition further strengthens Her Campus Media as it aims to cement its position globally as the leading brand in the female college space.

With the completed acquisition, Her Campus Media will integrate HerUni’s assets across the company’s existing platforms, including UK-based campus chapters, web traffic, email and social followers, and advertiser programs and partnerships. Her Campus Media’s bolstered position in the female college content and advertising spaces now includes a feet-on-the-ground presence at 250 campuses across five countries, with site traffic of over 3.3 million monthly visitors—offering marketers unprecedented access to the female college demographic. And with 100% of its content authored by current undergraduates, Her Campus represents the largest career-launching platform for students interested in pursuing careers in media after graduation, with Her Campus Media alumnae securing jobs and internships at Glamour, Vogue, Vanity Fair, The Washington Post, MTV, Digitas, Ogilvy, and countless other prominent institutions.

“With the acquisition of HerUni.com, we are excited to expand our presence in the UK and to continue to serve college women on an even broader, more global scale, helping college and university women worldwide to launch their careers in the media industry, while simultaneously providing a revolutionary channel that gives marketers access to this coveted yet elusive demographic,” said Stephanie Kaplan, Co-founder and CEO, Her Campus Media. “HerUni’s assets perfectly complement what we have built at Her Campus Media, and our combined strength affords us the international presence and reach to realize our mission of being the leading multi-platform brand in the female college space on a global level.”

Her Campus Media’s strengths in content creation, college marketing, and career mentorship will be complemented by HerUni’s stake in the UK university market with its burgeoning team of UK university writers and readers. HerUni has campus chapters at more than 40 universities throughout the UK, and the new Her Campus Media network will be comprised of more than 250 campus chapters on a global scale.

“This acquisition will significantly broaden the reach and resources available to all HerUni.com contributors and readers across the UK as well as increase the potential for commercial partnerships and creative monetization for the combined platforms. More than ever before, university girls will have access to high-quality content, community and social experiences across a deep network. Together, the two companies will embrace the opportunity to be an unmatched destination for the university audience, both from the consumer and advertiser side,” said Geraldine Haneine, Founder and Editor-in-Chief of HerUni.com.

Her Campus Media will also acquire trademarks, advertiser contracts, and partnership agreements owned by HerUni, further cementing the company’s hold on the UK female college market and the brands that endeavor to reach them.
